Crochet Ribbed Socks pattern




Construction:

This pattern is crocheted from a single piece, the pattern is recolored and the yarn is kept for the next row so you don’t have to bother hiding the yarn. After you’re done crocheting, you’ll leave a little yarn to sew the edges of the sock together as instruction.

Crochet slipper pattern

Yarn:

For this design, I used Yarn Art Jeans, which is a sport weight yarn. Here is the list of similar yarns:

You can also use any type of sport weight yarn if your swatch can meet the gauge.





Hook:

I use Tulip 3.0 mm crochet hook to crochet the main part of socks and 2.5 mm crochet hook to crochet the cuff.

ESTIMATED YARN REQUIRED:

  • Color 1: 135 (151, 170, 190, 209, 229) m / 147 (164, 185, 206, 227, 248) yards of yarn.
  • Color 2: 129 (141, 157, 177, 193, 212) m / 139 (153, 170, 192, 209, 230) yards of yarn.

* In this pattern, you will crochet one sock panel only and then assemble as instruction to finish the product.
* The Pattern instruction follows Size XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL). If there is no size range, it means the given value applies to all sizes.
* Photo tutorials follow Size S.
* This pattern uses US crochet terms.
* Total stitches are listed between < >.
* Turning chain: Ch1 does not count as a stitch.
* 3Sl St means crochet three Slip Stitches into the same stitch.
* “until SM” means until the last St before SM (or until only marked St left).
* “until 1 St left before SM” means there are two Sts left: the marked St and 1 St before marked St.

SPECIAL STITCHES:

INCREASE : Three Slip Stitches in to same stitch (3BLO Sl St)

Step 1: Sl St into back loop of indicated stitch.

Step 2: Make another Sl St into the same back loop.

Step 3: Rep Step 2 one more time.

DECREASE : Back Loop Three Slip Stitches Together (BLO Sl St3Tog)

Step 1: Insert hook into back loop of indicated stitch (2 loops on hook).

Step 2: Insert the hook into back loop of the next stitch (3 loops on hook).

Step 3: Rep Step 2 with the next stitch (4 loops on hook).

Step 4: Yarn over.

Step 5: Pull the yarn through 4 loops on your hook.

With Color 1 yarn:
Foundation Chain: With 3 mm hook: Ch 60 (60, 66, 66, 72, 72); with 2.5 mm hook: Ch 1 (Place 1st SM), Ch 15.

Tips:
– You can adjust the foundation chain to change the length of the socks.
– 2.5 mm hook is used to crochet the cuff.
– 3.0 mm hook is used to crochet the foot + leg lenth.
Row 1: Sl St into 2nd Ch from hook, Sl St across until SM, (Remove SM) Sl St (Place SM); with 3 mm hook: Sl St across until 1 Ch left, Change to Color 2, Sl St into last Ch.

Tips: To adjust the foot circumference, add/subtract a multiple of 2 rows to/from both Top Panel and Bottom Main Panel.

Tips:
– 2nd SM is used to separate the foot length and the leg length.
– To increase/decrease the foot length, decrease/increase the position to place SM.

Fasten off. Leave yarn to sew edges  together  (Approx. 3X length than the foot length).

ASSEMBLY

Use the remaining yarn, sew the long edges together, leaving 3 Sts open at the bottom panel.

Tips: I used Mattress stitch to sew edges together, but you can use any method you like.

Sew the 1st and 3rd remaining Sts on the bottom panel together.

Sew the wide edges together.

Sew the 1st and 3rd remaining Sts on the top panel together.

Weave in all of your ends.
